League of Legends’ ping system can be a useful tool for communication between players, but we rarely use it for what it’s really designed for.
Usually, we only spam the “Missing” ping with a question mark if someone is really paralyzing something or is literally missing from the team fight. But there are times when someone makes such a good play that we wonder how he managed to pull it off.
It was only a matter of time before players started using the new pings for other “purposes”.
One of the new pings was used to mimic League of Legends’ most punishable phrase. Some players used the Bait ping, a symbol that looks like a fishing hook but also resembles a rope, to tell other players to “hang yourself”.
It was only a matter of time before League of Legends players found new ways to trash talk their teammates without risking getting banned from chat or even the game.
It’s not yet known if Riot will replace this new Ping, but I see a chance.
