Dominik Szoboszlai also has a place in Liverpool’s strongest and most effective midfield trio

--

In Liverpool, Dominik Szoboszlai has to adapt to the team.

You need a system that doesn’t move

This András Lovasi sung by Kispál and Borz Meat-chewing bridge beater in his period song (let him be happy Peet Szabo something, at least the Kispál quote).

About Dominik Szoboszla we can read news and articles in the Hungarian media every day, but we rarely hear such deep professional analysis as the one in Premier Leak podcast S04EX37 | LIVERPOOL – How big is the problem, really? in his extra broadcast, available only for subscribers Peet Szabothe Spíler TV expert, Márk SoósSpíler TV analyst and Bence Vályithe Spíler TV and the Full coverage podcast editor about the captain of the Hungarian national team and his position in the Liverpool club team.

(The participants gave us permission to make an extract from the show, we thank them for this too!)

The situation of the Pool midfield, which was thoroughly renewed in the summer, was put into context, as that part of the team was almost completely replaced in the summer, five left (Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain), four arrived (Alexis McAllisterDominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, Ryan Gravenberch) there.

In Liverpool, there are several systems that are in motion, contrary to what was stated in the legendary lyric of Lovasi.

The essence of what they are saying is that it is not the position that is important, but the role. About a 20-minute segment was given to the topic of the order of the midfielders in the Premier Leak experts, and which is Liverpool’s strongest midfield right now.

He did a fascinating interview with Szoboszlai at Szoboszlai last year Márk Soós one of his first suggestions also proved to be important:

“The 6 position is the question, can Mac Allister be used as a 6 again, as it happened at the beginning of the season?”

Bence Vályi he joined his colleague’s opinion, extending it to Dominik’s role.

“Mac Allister is in every combination in Liverpool’s midfield trio depending on who you want where. If he’s in full control, then he’s released higher and then we have Endo as that little destroyer. If not, we say full pressing , we want transitions, we want to be direct, then Mac Allister is the 6, and Dominik has to play the 8.”

Mark Staying with Endo, he practically praised the Japanese, but as it turns out later, the defensive midfielder will not be included in the winning trio.

“Profiles are worth talking about, what kind of profiles they have and how they fit together. Liverpool has only one pure 6, Endo.”

He then added that the question of Szoboszlai and the English national team remaining here from last year Curtis Jones what is the difference between Anyway, Arsenal striker Szabó Peet would like to see Jones at the Londoners, we would like to join him.

“What the fans often don’t see in Jones is that he gives such control as an 8 that Liverpool are not forced to finish actions very quickly. And Dominik spins it much better, he can also step back from this and rather go around the ball.”

Pete brought in one of the essential components of the topic, that Liverpool’s midfield is strongly influenced by which right-back the team plays with. Because Liverpool practically Trent Alexander-Arnold’s team (sorry, Jürgen!).

“Liverpool’s midfield composition is also determined by who is right-back. If Alexander-Arnold is right-back, you expect a central player. This affects when Dominik Szoboszlai plays on the left and when he plays on the right, his position is also always determined by the profile of the players on the right side of the field and with whom he can be matched.

If there is Alexander-Arnold and there is Mohamed Salah, then Dominik Szoboszlai will play as a right-sided 8, because he will do the movements without the ball to open up space for these two players and be able to get into the rotation as well.

If Alexis MacAllister and Conor Bradley are there, then Dominik Szoboszlai has to play left 8 quite simply because Bradley will be high, and then you need a player who will come back to help. And it will be more like Mac Allister, and Salah comes inside, or they rotate with Bradley, and he occupies that high area, not Szoboszlai.

This is what is very interesting about Liverpool. Almost from match to match, who takes on what role on the field changes depending on how the personality of one or two players around him changes at the moment.”

After the analyses, the combinations that contained the best Pool midfield came. Szoboszlai, Endo, Mac Allister? Jones, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai? Or maybe Jones, Endo, Mac Allister? Which is Liverpool’s best or most efficient midfield trio?

Márk Soós for he made a difference between which is the strongest Liverpool midfield and which is the most functional. Dominik Szoboszlai and his supporters can rest assured, number 8 is included in both versions.

“If you have to say which is the best Liverpool midfield, the trio of Mac Allister, Jones and Szoboszlai are the best in terms of player quality. It’s just that it doesn’t work well against every team. They are quite versatile midfielders, but they have their profiles, what they are strong in really, and you have to be able to get that out of them.

The midfield that works best would be the trio of Endo, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, with Szoboszlai on the left.”

Taking the floor, Pete explained the difference between Szoboszlai playing as a right-sided or a left-sided 8 in Liverpool.

“The question is whether this role maximizes everyone. Because, for example, in the case of Szoboszlai, we can say that he plays as a right-sided 8, he almost comes back to help sometimes when Alexander-Arnold is high and they are in this rotation, he does it, but then it is far from the gate.

And when he is high, he essentially has to constantly attack this half-field in order to either open up space for Alexander-Arnold to pass, or for Salah to start him on the one hand, so that he can facilitate the shooting positions for his inward breaks, but also for his skills on the ball we see very little of the last third.

On the left side, on the other hand, it must be the exact opposite, to come out, there you can play directly, you can attack the goal directly, you can try to shoot much more. Moreover, precisely because of the combinations on the right side, he can arrive directly in front of the goal much more, not only in a passing position, but he can be the one who arrives in front of the goal.

From Liverpool’s point of view, if we look at the balance, Dominik Szoboszlai is still the better solution as a right-sided 8. If those players next to him are healthy, Alexander-Arnold, if Mac Allister can be pulled back, and let’s say there is Curtis Jones, who puts this control in the left side.”

Bence Vályi he emphasized that it is not the position but the role that matters, which always depends on who surrounds Dominik in his club team on the pitch. Because everything and everyone is connected, like in a József Attila poem.

“Basically, what people get from this is that Dominik is loading on the right side, and on the left side he can constantly dribble, attack, shoot, dribble, arrive, and from that there are situations. Then on the left side, Dominik is right forward, on the right side and less good. But the point here is who is around him and what role he has to play.”

Finally Peet Szabo summed up the essence of the election (almost as memorably as András Dezső, German Tamás and Péter Lengyel-Szabó in the legendary video of the previous Index, shot in the fall of 2019), according to which the Hungarian national team positions itself with Dominik Szoboszlai, but in Liverpool Dominik Szoboszlai has to adapt to the team.

“While practically everyone in the Hungarian national team is positioning themselves for Dominik Szoboszlai, and the whole game is based on where he is on the pitch, and we want to maximize his abilities (obviously, because he is the best player), at Liverpool it is just the opposite there are:

Dominik is a very important player, based precisely on the fact that whoever is around him, you can always play something with him. Supporting or direct role. He can fit in next to everyone, but he is not the one around whom the whole structure revolves, but he is the one who can adjust to everyone within the structure.”

“Every player is a system player” is said Bence Vályi his farewell text from broadcast to broadcast a Premier Leakin.

Well, this sentence also applies to Dominik Szoboszlai.
