Bail was posted for Mykola Solskyi, the Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture, who was accused of corruption.

They posted bail Mykola Solsky for the Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture, who was accused of corruption. The judge set the bail at 75.7 million hryvnias (nearly HUF 694.3 million).

Solskjaer was suspected of having participated in the illegal acquisition of state land worth 291 million hryvnias (2.7 billion forints), as well as an attempt to acquire land worth another 190 million hryvnias (1.8 billion forints).

Solsky denies the accusations regarding the events that took place before he took office, between 2017-2021. “There was no corruption. No one received any money,” he wrote in a statement broadcast by Ukrainian public television. He previously stated that in 2017, when he worked as a lawyer, he represented private individuals in a legal dispute with state companies over land in Sumi County.

The Ukrainian prosecutor’s office announced at Thursday’s court hearing that the minister could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison for the charges brought against him, reports MTI. Later, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture announced that the bail had been paid, but the ministry did not say who paid the amount. “Mykola Solsky was released and continues to hold the office of Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Affairs of Ukraine,” they wrote.

The Minister of Agriculture submitted his resignation on Thursday. The head of the ministry’s request for resignation will be considered by the legislature at one of the upcoming plenary sessions.
