Index – Abroad – Aleksandar Vucsic called Slovenians disgusting

--

“If I have offended anyone, I apologize to the entire Slovenian public, but at the same time I do not apologize to Slovenian politicians, because they pursue a disgusting policy towards Serbia,” Aleksandar Vucic said in New York, where he attended the UN Security Council meeting on Kosovo, reports Politico.

The Serbian prime minister accused Slovenia, a non-permanent member of the Security Council, of pushing, along with the United States and Switzerland, for the Kosovo delegation to bring survivors of rape by Serbian forces during the 1998-1999 war to the meeting, which caused the indignation of the Serbian delegation.

“It’s hard to say who was more disgusting, the Slovenians or someone else,” Aleksandar Vucic said earlier this week. Politicians reacted quickly to his comment. Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon said her entire nation had been insulted and demanded an apology.

The message does not fit a country that repeatedly emphasizes its commitment and belonging to European values

– He told.

According to Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob, the Serbian Prime Minister’s statements are reminiscent of another era and unworthy of the relations between the two countries.

Aleksandar Vucic admitted calling the Slovenians disgusting, but insisted he was referring to the Security Council meeting. He said he has many friends in Slovenia, but he is “reducing” his visits to the country and invited Robert Golob to Belgrade for a personal meeting.

“If necessary, I will apologize again and tell them that I did not mean all Slovenians, and I will tell them to their face what I think about their bad policy towards the Serbian people,” noted Aleksandar Vucic.
