Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has suspended his public duties as he considers whether to resign until Monday after a court investigates his wife’s involvement in a corruption case. So far, the court has not disclosed details about the charges against Begoña Gómez, they only said that on April 16 they began investigating suspicions of influence peddling and corruption, the BBC wrote.

About the judicial investigation Pedro Sánchez https://twitter.com/sanchezcastejon/status/1783181535337734409, wrote in his statement that preliminary proceedings were initiated against his wife following a report by a “far-right organization” called Manos Limpios (Clean Hands). According to him, the report was based on “alleged information from ultra-conservative media outlets”, against which, “due to their untruthfulness”, his wife took legal action. “I am not naive, I am aware that Begoña was reported not because he did something illegal, but because she is my wife; they also know that there is no case,” Sánchez was quoted as saying by MTI.

He concluded his letter by saying that he should reconsider whether he should remain prime minister. He has canceled all public events for the next five days and will announce his decision on Monday.
