A stabbing and several injuries were reported at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman High School in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire on Wednesday. Wales Air Ambulance confirmed two helicopters were sent to the scene to attend to the injured. Worried parents posted online that the school was closed and students were being kept in classrooms.
Lisa Barrett, whose daughter attends the school in West Wales, said her daughter texted her to tell her the high school was closed. The woman also told the BBC that several people were reported to have been stabbed – including two staff members. “This is very worrying. When you hear from your child that someone has been stabbed, you don’t know what to do,” Barrett said.

he blurted out. “But it’s comforting to know they’re locked in classrooms,” he added. Barrett said he was not told anything by the school. Local MP Jonathan Edwards expressed his condolences on social media.
One person was arrested
At around 3:30 local time, the police said in a statement: “Three people were injured and are undergoing treatment.”
One person has been arrested and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident
they announced. “Emergency services remain at the scene and the school has been locked down while the investigation continues. We work closely with the school and Carmarthenshire County Council. We are aware that footage of the incident is currently circulating on social media. Please remove this to avoid offending the court and adding to the anxiety of those involved. We ask the public not to speculate while the police investigation is ongoing,” the statement concluded.
Hundreds of parents are still waiting for the release of the students, who are locked in the classroom and waiting for the end of the police investigation. The ambulances have already left the scene with the injured. The school, which educates 11-18-year-olds, has about 1,450 students.
