Five horses got loose in central London and were captured with the help of the army

--

On Wednesday morning, social media was flooded with photos and videos of two horses running around central London. The police later announced that they had been arrested, the Guardian reports. As it turned out, a total of five horses broke free during the army’s morning exercise, and all of them were restrained in the afternoon.

Based on the footage, one of the horses was also bleeding, the BBC writes that the horse hit the windshield of a parked tourist bus and was injured.

The horses belong to the Household Cavalry, one of the highest-ranking regiments in the British Army. According to official reports, a total of five horses threw their riders during the morning exercise, presumably because they were disturbed by the noise of a nearby construction site.

The army said at noon that all the horses had been captured and were being taken to a veterinarian and the riders were receiving medical attention. According to the army, only two of the horses were injured.

The horses got loose around 9:30 a.m. and traveled quite a distance in the busy city center before they were brought under control.

According to the London emergency services, at least four people were injured in the incident.
