A strange opportunity

“This event represents a unique opportunity to develop cooperation between the Faculty of Aeronautics of the University of Kassia and our partners. In addition to spreading the awareness of the space industry among high school students and young people in Slovakia, the competition also shows that the space industry is a promising field in which they can develop and apply themselves. This year’s competition is a kind of pilot project thanks to the cooperation of the Eastern Slovakian Space Research Cluster, whose main supporters include the majority of the organizers,” stated Vice-Chancellor Juraj Gazda, who also emphasized the role of local mentors and instructors.

“We believe that in the coming years of the competition, the honors of the teams will only increase. Competitions like this one help high school students define their future. Linking education and work, and guidance from local mentors, can help them choose their next direction, whether it’s university studies or college, or practice. It’s always a pleasure to see so many enthusiastic young people trying to show what they can do,” Gazda added.

The participating teams were made up of students from Eperjes and Rozsnyo, and the prototype of the satellite case was made with a 3D printer. The Eperjes team members, under the guidance of team leader Marian Haborák, prepared the electronics at home by communicating with ESP32 units and using the algorithm for processing the received data.
