Development of European Union lamb prices – 16th week

In the European Union, the increase in the price of heavy lamb continued for the sixteenth week, and in the case of the price of light lamb, a decline was again experienced compared to the prices of the previous week.

The average price of heavy lamb in the EU for the 16 weeks ending April 21, 2024 is 868.7 euros/100 kg weight. (vt. = slaughter body weight), and the average price of light lamb is 810.4 euros/100 kg vt. volt. There was a 1.6% increase in the heavy lamb price, and a -0.8% decrease in the light lamb price compared to the values ​​recorded a week earlier (prices of the 15th week: average heavy lamb price 854.6 euros/100 kg vt., light lamb average 802.0 euros/100 kg vt.).

In the 16th week, the heavy lamb price was 3.0% higher and the light lamb price -1.8% lower compared to the values ​​recorded a month earlier.

The price of heavy lamb exceeded the value recorded in the same period of the previous year by 14.2%, and the price of light lamb by 14.0%.

In the 16th week, heavy lamb prices increased by 12.1% in Romania, 4.9% in Ireland, 1.9% in Croatia, 0.3% in France, -4.0% in Portugal , Slovenia saw a -3.4%, Spain -0.7%, and Italy -0.4% decrease compared to the previous week’s prices.

In the 16th week, no data is again available for heavy lamb prices for the Netherlands.

Evolution of light lamb prices – 16th week

Regarding light lamb prices, in the 16th week, an increase of 0.9% in Portugal, 0.1% in Spain, -10.6% in Slovenia, -5.2% in Croatia, -5.0% in Italy and in Bulgaria -2.8% compared to the previous week’s prices.

In week 16, no data is available for light lamb prices for Greece.
