Time for Arkansas baseball opener vs. Florida moved ahead 1 hour

FAYETTEVILLE — The start time for the Arkansas-Florida baseball game Friday has been moved up one hour due to the forecast.

The game between the No. 2 Razorbacks and the Gators will begin at 6 pm at Baum-Walker Stadium. Because of the change, the game will only be streamed on SEC Network+ and will not be televised on SEC Network as originally planned.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms in Fayetteville on Friday.

On Thursday, Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn indicated that he thought the schedule would be adjusted throughout the weekend. The teams are scheduled to play Saturday at noon and Sunday at 2 pm, but rain chances vary from 50% to 80% throughout the weekend.

“On Friday, as of now we have a window to play [from] 7 to 10 or 5 to 10… where it’s not quite such a big percentage,” Van Horn said. “That could change, obviously, tomorrow and closer to game time.

“Sunday does not look good at all…so it looks like there’s a window on Saturday most of the day where we could probably play two. Basically we’re looking to try to play tomorrow and then we will try to figure this out today if we’re going to move the Sunday game to Saturday.”

If a Saturday doubleheader is necessary, both games would be nine innings in regulation with a seven-inning run rule in place.
