In January 2024, compared to the previous month, industrial producer prices in the European Union fell by 0.9 percent, the average price level was thus 8.4 percent lower than a year earlier, Eurostat informed.
Industrial producer prices in the EU decreased by 5.9 percent for products intended for further processing and by 20.1 percent for energy, while for investment goods it decreased by 1.9 percent and for consumer durables by 0.5 percent. and among non-durable consumer goods, the statistical office of the Union calculated an average increase of 1.7 percent.
Among the member states providing data to Eurostat, the largest annual decline in industrial producer prices was registered in Ireland (minus 21.5 percent), Bulgaria (minus 17.8 percent) and Latvia (minus 12.3 percent). Growth was observed in only three member states: Luxembourg (+15.0 percent), Malta (+0.7 percent) and Slovenia (+0.3 percent).
In Hungary, according to the information provided by the statistical office, domestic sales prices decreased by 7.6 percent year-on-year in the first month of 2024. Among the intended groups of sectors, prices in domestic energy and secondary consumption sectors were 11.4 percent lower, in capital goods producers they increased by 4.5 percent, and in consumer goods producers they decreased by 0.9 percent.
