A traffic accident occurred today at midday on the M2 near Vác, where the entire width of the road was closed. – reads the official statement of the BM National Directorate General of Disaster Management on the side.

A car and a truck crashed on the M2 highway, in the Vác area, between kilometers 37 and 38. A person is lifted out of the car by professional firefighters from Vác and Budapest performing technical rescue.

The man driving the car lost his life as a result of a head-on collision on the Váci bypass section of the M2 highway, between the Gödöllő and Radi exits.

The works, which were also assisted by the Vác volunteer firefighters, were managed by the Disaster Prevention Operations Service of the Pest County. Ambulances also arrived at the scene. The entire width of the affected road section was closed for the duration of the rescue.

Some good advice from the National Disaster Management Directorate on what to do in the event of road traffic accidents!

We’ll tell you what to do if you’ve had an accident.

Read on, because we’ll also tell you what to do if you see an accident.

So: have you slipped into a ditch? Did you crash?

If you’ve sped up (in this case, it’s as if time stops, it takes a few seconds for you to catch up with what’s happening):

  • check if you are injured
  • check if the people sitting next to you are injured
  • rotate, move, feel your limbs if you can
  • speak to your fellow passengers when you find the words
  • look around: is there any danger? Fallen tree, pillar, dripping unknown substance, flames, vehicles, train, anything…
  • if you can, leave the vehicle
  • if you find the phone, call
  • don’t call your mother, call 112
  • report them on the phone above
  • if you can help someone, help them
  • now you can call your mom…

If you didn’t have an accident, but it happens right in front of you (and you’ve been thrown, because even then it takes a few seconds…)

  • check for damage
  • ask for help on 112
  • talk to the injured person, if he needs something, help him, but don’t move him or do something you don’t understand!
  • ask for help on 112
  • therefore, recognize arterial bleeding, apply suppression of arterial pressure points only if you are confident in your knowledge and have practice
  • ask for help on 112
  • assess whether there is immediate danger (see above)
  • ask for help on 112

if help is coming, let them know, you can bring water, blankets, lamps, anything you might need

…but they will tell you what to do anyway, trust them, trust us

In summary: take off, assess the situation, make a phone call!
