A stampede was attempted in Jerusalem on Monday morning, the security forces are on full alert for Pesach, the Jewish Passover in Israel, which will arrive in the evening, reported Zsuzsa Shiri, MTI’s Jerusalem correspondent.

Two people were slightly injured in a stampede in Jerusalem on Monday morning, next to a synagogue.

According to the police, the two terrorists fled the scene after unsuccessfully trying to use a home-made machine gun, which they threw away during their escape. An ax was also found at the scene.

The assailants arrived in a white car and collided with another vehicle. The authorities also deployed a helicopter in the manhunt against them.

During the night, Israeli security forces arrested 21-year-old Ahmed Davsa in the Palestinian village of Duma in the West Bank, who is accused of murdering a 14-year-old settler boy named Benjamin Achimeir a few days ago.

According to the police report, in the shadow of the war in Gaza since October 7, thousands of police officers, border guards and volunteers are supervising the eight-day Passover celebration that began on Monday evening.

They regularly patrol various entertainment venues and mass events to “provide an appropriate response to every scenario and increase the public’s sense of security.”

During Passover in Israel, most government offices and workplaces and educational institutions are closed, crowds of Israelis gather throughout the country in national parks, holy places, beaches and various entertainment centers.
