TECH NEWS – More rumors have surfaced about Nintendo’s next-generation hardware, which the Japanese company hasn’t announced yet (and therefore we don’t even know its name), but it’s quite concrete details to hear.
A Chinese manufacturer, Mobapad, reported in a Facebook post, which has since been edited, about what we can expect regarding the successor to the Nintendo Switch. According to them, not only the current Pro Controller will be supported, but Joy-Con as well (we reported the opposite recently), but the HD rumble will also remain thanks to the ALPS double-axis linear motor. The size of the new Joy-Con motor, however, will be smaller. In handheld mode, current Joy-Con controllers cannot be attached to the console due to a new horizontal magnetic docking system that will only work with the new Joy-Cons.
Mobapad added that the Nintendo Switch 2 will fully support both digital and physical (cassette, card) versions of Nintendo Switch games. The USB-C port will also remain for docking, and there was also talk of a new generation dock. This includes minor design improvements (such as a metal bracket for better angle adjustment). The display of the console will be slightly larger than before (8″, 20.32 centimeters?) and will support 1080p resolution.
The manufacturer therefore wrote that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be a conservative evolution, and instead of painting it as a completely new console, it will have the appearance of a Pro model, which is logical, as the format will remain familiar and customers will be able to easily identify the a product of a Japanese company, which will probably support Nvidia DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction technology (but not DLSS 3, i.e. Frame Generation), equipped with the Nvidia Tegra T239 chip and 8 Cortax A78 Arm processor cores.
We still have to wait for the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2, and we already hear different rumors about when it will be available: some mentioned the second half of 2024, some mentioned the beginning of 2025…
