These angry people for some reason are willing to harass anyone with online attacks and threats, from developers to actors to their own peers, even if they are not completely serious. Nevertheless, in today’s world, these threats should always be taken seriously, because you never know whether an offended child is behind them, or a person who is really able and wants to harm the threatened person or company.

A current case was not just a simple cursing letter, because according to the Kyoto Shimbun, a 27-year-old young man living in Hitachi, Japan, from August 22 to 29 last year. sent no less than 39 death threats to Nintendo between The troubled gamer had an objection to the game Splatoon, which he felt was not necessarily worth the price. The gamer was quite upset with the game’s quality and tried to let the developers know about it through the contact form on Nintendo’s website, but he didn’t hit the right note.

His “complaint” that went a little too far included statements such as “I will make sure you regret releasing such a crappy game into the world” and if it had stopped at this level it would have been unpleasant, but he continued by saying “I will kill everyone, who participated in this”.

And half of these and similar threats are no longer a joke and the toy company took the matter seriously, because in addition to filing the usual report at this time, Nintendo also canceled several mass events due to the young man’s further threats. In December 2023, he did not hold the finals of a Splatoon e-sports competition, and in January the presentation of Nintendo Live Tokyo, and thus lost quite a lot of income, not to mention the fact that he may have angered other gamers with the missed events…
