It’s not too much of a joke to tell you: the ending of God of War: Ragnarök and the subsequent expansion Valhalla also left the door open for more God of War games, and considering the insane success of the franchise, it’s practically guaranteed that Sony and Santa Monica Studio isn’t going to ditch the series anytime soon. The good news, however, is that there are clear signs that the development of the next chapter is already underway in some form.

We know that the head of the studio, Cory Barlog, is also working on another title, completely independent of God of War, so the previous job announcements of Santa Monica Studio, in which they were looking for developers focusing on combat design and its mechanics, could even be related to this new IP would be. However, the latest ad spotted by Gamerant makes it unmistakable. In it, Santa Monica Studio is looking for a mission designer for an as-yet-unannounced character-focused action game with an in-depth knowledge of the God of War games and their history.

Although we have only connected the threads with this, i.e. there has been no talk of an official announcement yet, we can safely say that the next God of War is already on the way. Of course, it is not known when the game may be released, nor what kind of adventures await Kratos, who is probably ready to leave the pantheon of the northern gods behind.
