The goal of the competition is for young people to like and love animal husbandry, working with animals, and caring for them. This activity requires endurance, patience and attention. According to experience, few young people today can be involved in the work, because getting animals used to handling is not an easy task, it requires a lot of time and perseverance.

At Hód-Mezőgazda Zrt.’s Vajhát cattle farm, assistant farm manager Csaba Asztalos and Zoltán Tóth, who works in the company’s crop production branch, deal with the preparation of the animals and the students. Most of the young supervisors are the children of the company’s employees. Driving is considered strong physical work. The judges evaluate hand positions, uniform, harmonious movement, joint work with the animal, movements, stances and harmony.

The prize for the best competitor will be a Holstein-Friesian calf, which means that the best young handler can already practice with his own cattle for next year’s livestock breeding days.
