Many people have heard of Apple’s “FineWoven” accessories for iPhones and Apple Watches. Apple seems to be ditching its eco-friendly ‘FineWoven’ accessories, but for good reason.

According to a post by tipster Kosutami, Apple has stopped production of FineWoven cases for iPhones, and the same applies to watch bands for Apple Watch models. Why? The answer is not too surprising, given the lack of quality. The durability of FineWoven cases is not the best, and this has been proven by many.

Apple created these accessories as an alternative to leather, an environmentally friendly alternative. The FineWoven cases wore out quite quickly and began to look odd because of this. Many people described them as “dirty”. Let’s face it, the quality has fallen below criticism, even in stores they have become completely scratched, absolutely not Apple’s standard.

Apple will use other materials, but it won’t be leather

The tipster says Apple will opt for a new material, though it doesn’t appear to be leather. Kosutami has been largely accurate in the past, so there’s no reason to doubt that. He was the person who shared the first image of the FineWoven cases before they were even announced.

Apple describes its FineWoven cases as “luxurious and durable microtwill” made from 68% recycled polyester. These cases didn’t really hold up well despite their $59 price tag. MagSafe wallets are the same price, while AirTag mounts are $35. Apple Watch bands cost $99.

It remains to be seen what Apple will do this time. Eco leather cannot be a bad choice. However, Kosutami said no leather is used, so we’ll see. Perhaps you meant genuine leather, leaving room for eco-leather. Many Chinese smartphone manufacturers use eco-leather on their phones, so this might not be a bad idea.
