The South Koreans tried to emphasize last year and early this year that everything is going to be fine in the mobile division, as revenues have been doing well and profits have shown a decent increase in 2023. The Galaxy S23 series really showed an excellent performance, which was able to somewhat compensate for the company’s weakness, but this year it will probably try to take the lead again. Several new members of the Galaxy A series came at a more favorable price than last year, which is definitely a good start. Most recently, the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 were launched at lower recommended retail prices than their predecessors. This can certainly have a stimulating effect on the demand for mid-range mobile phones. And now the Galaxy C55 has arrived as a result of another traffic-boosting move by Samsung.
Until now, Samsung has carried the Galaxy M, Galaxy F and of course the Galaxy A series in the middle category, but now the Galaxy C is here, which will primarily target China. The first mobile in this series is the Galaxy C55, and it is essentially a Galaxy M55 repackaged somewhat. The Galaxy M55 had several interesting features, as we drew attention to earlier. This mobile already came with 45 W charging, while even the Galaxy S24 can only be charged with 25 W. And thanks to the relative thread, the Galaxy C55 also supports 45 W charging.
What is new about this smartphone compared to the Galaxy M55 is that its back has been covered with a leather effect, as is the case with more and more mid-range Chinese mobiles. The product is available in stores in orange and black, and gold accents are echoed in both color versions. The “vegan leather” cover even features stitching imitations to make the product look even more extravagant, but the frame is now only plastic, not metal, like the Galaxy A55.
The Galaxy C55, prepared to conquer China, will predictably provide customers with the Android 14 system and the One UI 6.1 graphical user interface in a different form than usual. There could be other pre-installed apps that serve local needs. The device will use a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 120 Hz support. And a 50MP front camera looks ahead from a small hole at the top.
The device’s main camera is also 50 megapixels, only using a larger sensor, and there is also an 8 MPixel unit with ultra-wide-angle optics, as well as a 2 MPixel macro unit. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip works in the Galaxy C55, and interestingly, the storage can only be 256 GB, but the memory can be 8 or 12 GB. The designers entrusted the structure to a 5000 mAh battery.
The Galaxy C55 is also a special offer in that it enters the Chinese market with aggressive pricing, where it is difficult to prevail without it. The mobile phone starts at 2,000 yuan, which corresponds to HUF 102,000, and the configuration with 12 GB of RAM can be had for 2,300 yuan (HUF 118,000).
