After the entire World Cup in Qatar was met with a lot of criticism and international repercussions, now new scandalous rumors about the hosts have come to light.

Referring to British sources, the Dutch Voetbalzone writes that the host of the World Cup wanted to bribe eight players from the opponents of the opening match, Ecuador.

Amjad Taha, a journalist and researcher at Britain’s Center for Middle East Studies and Research, claims Qatar bribed eight Ecuadorian players to lose the opening game 1-0.

Taha, who comes from Bahrain, knows that in total more than seven million euros would be paid to the players if the match were favorable for the home team. In addition, the decisive goal should be scored after the break – this can probably be important from a betting point of view. For those who don’t believe, he declares that he learned about the truth of the story from five independent sources, Ecuador and Qatar.

“Of course we hope that this is not true. We hope that this revelation will affect the outcome of the match and that the bribery will not take place. The world must speak up and take action against the corruption of FIFA,” read Taha’s message.

After the World Cup was awarded, the presidents of FIFA and UEFA were replaced after corruption was proven, but Qatar was able to retain the right to host the tournament and is preparing for the form-breaking World Cup.
