The court has now decided on a restraining order: the California-based Mexican-American wrestler must stay at least 100 yards (91 meters) away from his ex and her house, workplace and car.

According to the woman’s accusations, Ruiz often

sexually abused, raped, physically and mentally terrorized her. Sometimes he grabbed her and dragged her wherever he wanted, sometimes with “playful” blows he caused blue-green spots and bruises on Julia’s body.

Last year, the violent athlete completely overshot the target: one

He threatened her by shoving a Kalashnikov assault rifle in her face just because she felt uncomfortable buying the AK-47.

This was not the cause of their divorce: Julia kicked him out more than a year ago because he cheated on her. Based on what was said, Ruiz raped his partner at least six times.

“Mr. Ruiz exercised violent control throughout their relationship. He kept his partner in fear with his aggressive, degrading and controlling behavior,” explained the judge in the case, Sharon L. Kalemkiarian, for the restraining order.

Ruiz also had his gun license revoked and must attend 12 weeks of anger management therapy. And what could be the hardest punishment for the boxer: the woman was given sole custody of both of their children.

Meanwhile, the wrestler’s new love, Mayeli, is expecting a child from him.

Andy Ruiz caused one of the biggest surprises of all time in professional boxing when he defeated the previously undefeated favorite Anthony Joshua in 2019. Half a year later, he lost the rematch by unanimous decision.

As of June 2023, he was ranked the fifth best active heavyweight boxer in the world by ESPN, fourth by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board and BoxRec, and sixth by The Ring magazine.
