According to the press service of the Olympic quota athlete, last year’s world champion, and this year’s World Cup seventh place athlete, Érdi came first in the ranking for the first time in his career, reports MTI.

– the announcement quoted the best Hungarian female athlete of 2023, who is preparing for her third Olympics. He added: he is currently concentrating on the World Cup in Hyéres, and considering the tasks ahead, he considers his place in the world ranking encouraging.

Mária Érdi’s best results so far

In 2013, Mária Érdi was a gold medalist at the byte C II class youth world championship. With this result, he qualified for the Youth Olympics. He won a silver medal at the European Championship. In 2014, he finished third at the World Youth Championships. In the same year, he won a silver medal in the byte class and a bronze medal in the laser class at the European Youth Championships. At the youth laser radial world championship, he was first among the 17-year-olds and second among the under-19s. He took 11th place at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games.

In 2015, he became world and European champion in the U19 laser radial class. He took 42nd place at the adult world championship. In April 2016, he earned an Olympic quota. He was 14th at the Olympics. At the end of the year, he finished fourth at the World Youth Championships.

In 2017, he finished 20th at the World Championships. In 2018, he was fifth at the European Championship. At the World Championship, she finished 8th in the Laser Radial boat class competition, earning a quota for the 2020 Olympics. In May 2019, he finished ninth at the European Championship. At the 2019 World Championships, he placed 21st. In August, he won a bronze medal in Laser Radial at the pre-Olympics held in Enoshima. He finished 13th in the laser radial class at the Tokyo Olympics.

He was fifth at the 2022 World Championships. He finished in eighth place at the European Championship. In March 2023, he won a bronze medal at the European Championships.

He won the world title in August. In 2023, she was chosen as the Hungarian sportswoman of the year.

At the 2024 World Championships, he gave up the last race from sixth place due to a technical error. With this ranking, he would have reached the final in fifth place. On the boats provided by the organizers, two screws were previously replaced due to a type of error. This was not done on Érdi’s ship, which led to the breakdown. For this reason, the jury awarded fairness points to the Hungarian competitor, who thus started the medal race in ninth place, which he won. With this, he finished seventh in the world championship. The following month he won the European Championship.
