At the European Championship, the Hungarian team consisting of Krisztofer Mészáros, Krisztián Balázs, Benedek Tomcsányi, Balázs Kiss and Molnár Botond was in the finals for a long time, and finally took 13th place with 242.195 points. In the individual overall, Mészáros finished in fifth place with 83.398 points. The gymnast of AC Győr received 14.333 points for her exercise on the floor, and thus reached the final in fourth place. Krisztofer Mészáros, the 22-year-old former European silver medalist on clay, had the best individual overall result so far at the European Championships, in 2022 in Munich. In the history of Hungarian men’s gymnastics, Zoltán Supola, who won a silver medal at the 1992 European Championships in Budapest, achieved a better position in the individual all-around. Mészáros had finished his exercises earlier and could have been worried about how many places he would finish.

– For a very long time it looked like I could win the medal, I was constantly counting, watching the competition, and even before the last lap of the last round it looked like it could come together. It’s still difficult for me to process, but I have the clay final and I’ll do my best there – he was annoyed after the competition Krisztofer Butcher.

Sándor Altorjai team manager, general secretary of the Hungarian Gymnastics Association: – It is positive that we have a surf final and a complex EC points-scoring position. At the same time, it is a lesson that at this level one must strive for perfection in the presentation of each exercise. The field was incredibly balanced. Nations arrived at the European Championship with top competitors that were not very strong in this sport before. Unfortunately, in the end, Krisztián Balázs did not get the Olympic quota either, but let’s remember that his preparation was not smooth, and it came out in the end.

Individual composite, final result:

1. Mariosz Georgiu (Cyprus) 84.265 points
2. Oleg Vernyaev (Ukraine) 84.031
3. Yumin Abbadini (Italy) 83.765
…5. Krisztofer Mészáros 83,398 points
…20. Krisztián Balázs 80,365
…41. Molnár Botond 77,065
