After winning the League Cup in February, Liverpool were competing for three more trophies in mid-March, but at the end of April, the English club will end Jürgen Klopp’s last season there with a cup. Manchester United eliminated their rival from the FA Cup in March, and after the slap they received then, Liverpool has not been able to recover since then, so they were also eliminated from the Europa League, and in the Premier League they lost two matches in addition to a draw. After that, you can hit the trail of Arsenal and Manchester City with a stick, as the said two teams did them no favors.

Liverpool could now only be champions with the help of their rivals. But Jürgen Klopp said after the 2-0 defeat against Everton that he doesn’t have much hope, and is even worried about whether the Reds will make it to the Champions League at all. To do this, they would have to finish in the top four in the PL, and although Liverpool, currently second, has a thirteen-point advantage over fifth-placed Tottenham, Spurs have played two games less than them.

– We would need our rivals to lose a few matches, but this is not typical of them. Arsenal didn’t look too weak yesterday (thrashing Chelsea 5-0 – ed.). And we have to play better, we need points. We are not safe, we may even miss out on the Champions League, as Tottenham played far fewer games than us, Liverpool’s manager explained.

Klopp blames himself

Klopp was very critical when asked about his side’s defeat to Everton, adding that he was to blame for the goals conceded.

– I am very disappointed, we played into Everton’s hands. We conceded two goals from set pieces, while we know this is Everton’s strength. Their second goal was almost routine, they scored a lot of them this season. It’s all incomprehensible. I thought we came into the game, created some good chances, but we couldn’t live with any of them. We were confused after their second goal. We couldn’t translate, we just weren’t good enough. This is the truth, said the German coach disappointedly. “I was never able to score, and now I’m responsible for not scoring goals.” I’m not mad about it. It’s crazy how many chances we’ve created in the last four games. We still need to improve. I apologize to the fans. It’s hard for us too, but we know it’s even more so for them. We should have played better, we didn’t, that’s why we got out.
