It hasn’t won a championship in a month and a half, and on Saturday, Paks suffered a heavy defeat in Felcsút, which, after missing out on the miraculous gold medal in the race against Ferencváros, has now slipped from second position in NB I…

For Fehérvár, it was enough to score a single point against Zalaegerszeg in the 29th round.

After the initial fumbling, Fehérvár gained the upper hand, Dávid Dombó had to make several great saves to protect his goal from the goal. Zalaegerszeg mostly tried to build on the speed of Antonio Mance, who got caught once in the first half hour, but he messed it up. In the continuation, the game became even, the teams took a step back, so it was not surprising that there was no goal until the break.

After the turn, the guests played better, they came close to taking the lead when Mance’s ball bombed the crossbar. The home team also picked up steam, they became more proactive, mainly in the element of former Mamadou Karamoko, who won a penalty, which Tobias Christensen confidently sold (1–0).

Zalaegerszeg and Oleksandr Safronov took a point from Fehérvár with his header (1-1).

Although the hosts did not win, they were ahead of Paks in the standings with a better goal difference, MTI emphasized once again.

In the final match of the round, Újpest Csoboth Kevin took the lead with an early goal and excelled for 70 minutes against MTK Budapest. After that, however, the team’s play completely fell apart, Krisztián Németh’s equalizer was initially disallowed due to handling, in the 79th minute from an assist from Exliverpool Marin Jurina even under regular conditions, he beat the host (1–1).

In the 97th minute Jurina for the second time he took the goal of Dávid Banai, who – although his defense also put him in a vulnerable position – danced back towards the line extremely awkwardly and out of rhythm, instead of trying to punch. He drank the juice of his uncertainty: the MTK 2–1 won, and Újpest remained without points again, for the third time in a row.

With this, the purple and whites’ survival is still not certain, with four rounds to go, the team’s lead is nine points over Kisvárda, which is in the relegation place.

In the previous match of the game day, Kecskemét defeated Mezőköves 2-1, thus it was decided that the team from Matyóföld cannot stay in the 2023-2024 season of NB I.
