HMD’s first own-brand mobiles are here, three models arrived immediately – iPon

--

Starting this year, HMD is pursuing a “multibrand” strategy, which means that it will no longer deliver devices under other brand names, not just Nokia. In the spirit of this, the first device was a Heineken-related mobile phone, and now here are three HMD smartphones.

Although the Nokia name is no longer on the new mobile phones, we can still talk about low-end and mid-range devices. In recent times, HMD has produced such modest devices, and despite the great transformation, the audience remains the same. The HMD Pulse, Pulse+ and Pulse Pro were launched with roughly the same structure, there is no big difference between them, which is why they also move in a narrow range in terms of price.

Regardless of the design, the novelties use a 6.65-inch display with a resolution of 1612 x 720 pixels and 90 Hz support. In any case, we can talk about an IPS panel, and a maximum brightness of 600 nits can be expected here.

Android 14 will welcome those interested on mobiles, which is definitely good news. However, even more interesting and important is that HMD has promised that all new Pulse models will receive at least two major Android updates, and 3 years of security support will be guaranteed. Of course, this is not outstanding today, but you can accept it if you can keep it. Of course, HMD has promised a 2-year update for Nokias, but it happened that this did not go smoothly.

The only difference between the mobile phones is the cameras, in this respect all three configurations offer a little something different. The front camera of the HMD Pulse is capable of capturing 8-megapixel selfies. There are two imagers on the back, but one is only a low-resolution depth evaluator, the main camera can be taken more seriously, it already has a 13MP sensor.

The HMD Pulse+ has retained the 8-megapixel front camera, and on the back there is also the modest companion camera to support portrait mode. However, for the main camera, the designers have already chosen a 50 MPixel companion in this case. The HMD Pulse Pro has a 50-megapixel primary imager as well as a depth sensor. Here, the added plus is a better front camera, which is now also 50 MP. In selfies, the best member of the series is quite capable.

The designers chose the simple UNISOC Tiger T606 system chip as the basis of the novelties. This is a 12 nm chip with old Cortex-A75 and A55 cores, clocked at only 1.6 GHz, and the role of the IGP is also fulfilled by a single Mali-G57 processor on board. The HMD Pulse will be available with 4 or 6 GB of memory along with 64 GB of storage, the Pulse+ and Pulse Pro will come with 128 GB and the RAM can be 4, 6 or even 8 GB.

5G has not yet reached this point, the machines only have 4G LTE modems, but VoLTE is provided. The list of connectivity options also includes Wi-Fi that complies with the 802.11ac standard, the Bluetooth 5 module, the A-GPS receiver, and to some surprise, there is even an NFC chip on board. The structure is dual-SIM, they can operate in DSDS mode, but the second SIM shares the same place as the microSD.

The HMD Pulse will be available in black and pink, the Pulse+ will be available in orange and black, and the Pulse Pro will also come in black, green and purple. Mobile phones carry the fingerprint reader on their side. In addition to the USB-C connector, the designers did not forget about the 3.5 mm Jack socket, which is gratifying.

The novelties are entrusted to a battery with a capacity of 5,000 milliampere hours, and thanks to this, they will provide approximately 2 days of operation time in normal daily use. It will be possible to charge the Pulse and Pulse+ pairs with only 10 watts, which is quite difficult these days, and from this point of view, the Pulse Pro promises to be a little better, because it provides 20 W fast charging.

The HMD Pulse will cost 140 euros, the Pulse+ will cost 160 euros, and the Pulse Pro will cost 180 euros. In principle, the cheapest device in Hungary will cost HUF 50,000, the intermediate model will be available for HUF 60,000, and the device with the Pro designation will cost HUF 75,000.
