After the United States and China, Tesla will also reduce the price of certain models in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, it was announced on Sunday at a press conference, which was reported by Reuters. It is not yet possible to know how much of a price reduction this means in Hungary.
Tesla announced on Friday that the price of the Y, X and S models will be reduced by $2,000 (approximately HUF 740,000) in the United States. The prices of the Model 3 and Cybertruck, however, have not been changed.
At the same time, they announced that their referral program in its current form, in which Tesla owners receive discounts if they bring in new customers or buy a new Tesla themselves, will end in May. This also affects Hungary, since this system worked similarly all over the world. According to Elon Musk, a new recommendation system will be introduced in a few months, reports villanyautosok.hu.
On Sunday, it was revealed that the price of the Model 3 will be reduced in China, and later it was announced that it will also cost 2,000 euros less in Germany. From now on, the official price in Germany is 40,990 euros, which corresponds to HUF 16.1 million. According to a Tesla spokesperson, the price of certain models has also been reduced in other European countries, the Middle East and Africa.
The discount came after Elon Musk’s letter was leaked in mid-April, according to which he would fire 14,000 Tesla workers, which is more than 10 percent of the company’s total workforce. According to Musk, this is necessary to increase productivity within the company.
It was later announced that almost all Cybertrucks were being recalled because their accelerator pedals would sometimes stick to the floor. Cybertruck also deals with several childhood illnesses. Already during the 2019 demo, the supposedly unbreakable window was broken, it is rusting, it can’t handle bird droppings and spreading bugs very well, and this week it turned out that in some cases the car wash can also cause serious problems.
Tesla has more and more serious challengers among the Chinese electric car manufacturers, their biggest rival is BYD, which is also expanding in Hungary.
