In the first year of secondary school, students are best introduced to dramatic situations through the works of Greek authors. But what if a dramatic, even more blood-curdling situation develops during the class of ninth graders? This is what happened in a high school in Szolnok, where a ninth-grade student tried to beat his teacher to death with a chair with noble simplicity.

“You’re annoying and I’ll kill you!”
You have to go back a good year and a half for the case. According to the indictment, in October 2022, a history lesson was taking place at the school in Szolnok, which has not been named by the Szolnok District Prosecutor’s Office, where the brutal scene took place. It happened that a student went to the bathroom without the teacher’s permission. After returning to the room, the teacher warned her to ask permission the next time she went to the bathroom.
The conflict could have even settled here, since the student understood this and promised to ask next time. However, when the teacher turned to the latter’s colleague on the bench – the later defendant – asking them to continue the task they had started, he replied as follows:
You’re fucking irritating!
The teacher then called on the student to repeat what she said. But in vain, what he had to say did not become more cordial, and he even threatened him, saying: “you are irritating and I will kill you”.
He tried to beat his teacher to death
The teacher then sent the student out of the room, but instead he grabbed and lifted his chair, went to his instructor and hit him several times. The blows hit the teacher’s head and arms. The poor man backed out into the corridor, but his angry fool followed him there – albeit without a chair – and punched him in the head a few more times. The teacher finally escaped into the teacher’s room.
Can you get away with it suspended?
The Szolnok District Prosecutor’s Office, which informed our news portal about the case on Friday, said that the teacher suffered bruises and fractures as a result of the abuse, which took more than eight days to heal. The student could have caused a fatal skull injury or brain injury in the event of a strong blow to the head with the chair.
In connection with the attack, the prosecutor’s office wrote, due to the strong blows to the head, there was therefore a real chance of a more serious, life-threatening injury than the actual injury suffered, which was avoided only because the teacher defended herself.
In the prosecution’s indictment, the defendant – who was in custody for four months during the investigation and has since been under criminal supervision – proposed a suspended prison sentence and the ordering of probation. Furthermore, the court orders the accused to participate in psychotherapy for anxiety and aggression. The Szolnok Court will decide on the case.
