It’s good to live in a housing estate, the flag already announces this

--

On Thursday, the official flag of the Jutasi housing estate was inaugurated under solemn circumstances.

It was a custom to show our affiliation with symbols even in prehistoric times: our ancestors painted different animal skins to indicate which tribe they belonged to, and then over the millennia and centuries, flags became primarily symbols of our belonging to a community, settlement or nation.

The Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture program and the local government were also based on this tradition, when in 2022, with the participation of the population, they dreamed up and then prepared the flags of individual neighborhoods of Veszprém. The flags were first seen on the Gizella days, and this year they also appeared in the individual districts – in the Garden City, for example, the flag there was inaugurated in a ceremonial setting in March, and from now on the flag of the Jutasi housing estate can also be admired by anyone heading towards the Kálvin János park .

Edina Jung, president of the Virágzó Veszprém Association, said: with the motifs of the flag, they wanted to reflect on the defining elements of the housing estate: the swimming pool on March 15th Street, where so many people learned to swim, the trees of Kiserdő, the tall cube houses and the handball team, which is also here he started his triumphal journey in a sports hall.

Rector Dora

Dóra Rektor, the Fidesz-KDNP municipal representative candidate, recalled the history of the housing estate built 50 years ago on agricultural land and named after leader Jutas, son of Grand Duke Árpád, where 18,000 people, a third of the city’s population, live their daily lives. As he said, living in panels and housing estates is not at all cheesy, but cool and comfortable: you don’t have to go far for anything, as there is a post office, crèche, kindergarten, swimming pool, sports hall, pastry shop, parks where families can play with their children or even have a dog. take a walk, or just simply relax under the shady trees. Here is the Agóra with its rich cultural offerings, the KRESZ park, which people from other parts of the city like to visit, and now a running circle and public bicycle system are available here – and no one misses the 24-story building that was once planned here, but was not realized due to lack of funds.

This is what I would like to announce with the flag, which at the end of the ceremony the students of the Báthory school handed over to Roland Pálinkás, the municipal representative of the district, and he symbolically passed it on to Edina Jung and the Viárgzó Veszprém Association, who today do their best to make the housing estate even more livable and be more sparkling.
