The mayor of Edelény rejected the accusations of the local Mi Hazánk politician last year: the relevant authorities did not find any shortcomings in the project of the Mining Demonstration Center.

We have just announced that Oszkár Molnár will not run for mayor again in Edelény. At the council meeting on April 25, the mayor, who served the city for 22 years – who also served the region as a member of parliament for 16 years – spoke not only about his farewell, but also about an investigation started in connection with a local government investment.

Here, he said that on October 5, the Public Procurement Authority received a notification regarding the Mining Demonstration Center established in Császtán. According to the whistleblower, there were many irregularities during the investment, and he asked the Public Procurement Authority to investigate the matter. More than four thousand pages of material were attached to the Public Procurement Authority, who informed the Edélény municipality at the beginning of April that the procedure had been closed: no shortcomings or irregularities were found.

The local government then shared on its Facebook page that the whistleblower was none other than Zoltán Varga, a politician from the Mi Hazánk organization in Edelény, who also wants to run for the mayor’s office in Edelény, as he had already collected the necessary recommendation forms last week. Although he is running as an independent candidate, he previously laid a wreath on behalf of Mi Hazánk on March 15. However, the posts from the party organization’s Facebook page have since disappeared.

While the bicycle track is still under construction, the handover of the mining center will soon take place on May 25, and the day before, the industrial area in Edelény will be handed over together with Péter Szíjjártó.
