Mrs. Rudolf Hornig, the former deputy mayor of the city, also became an honorary citizen. In 2006, he joined the representative body of the city of Komárom and became deputy mayor of the city of Komárom from 2006 to 2014. During this period, many investments were realized, such as the renovation of the Arany 17 Event Center or the Jókai cinema. In 2009, the development of the indoor shooting range started, which has since been home to several Olympians and young shooters. He participated in the purchase of the Kombinát building and the Brigetio Heritage Visitor Center in the preparation of his plans. By preparing the area of ​​the former Raksped for purchase, he contributed to the realization of today’s House of Generations. He is a member and active participant of the Szőnyi Creative Circle, with whom he has organized numerous exhibitions.

Emese Számadó, director of the György Klapka Museum in Komárom, István Horváth, head of the Komárom Group of the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service, director of the Ősirózsa Retirement Club, received a Memorial Medal for the City of Komárom. Ignác Imre Szakál, medical director of the János Selye Hospital in Komáromi, and reformed pastor Ákos Attila Nagy.

The Komárom Voluntary Firefighters Association, Tiborné Keller and the Brigetio Bicycle Sports Association received the mayor’s award.

Prestigious awards in the north as well

On the north side, the following accolades were awarded. Miroslav Jaška, director of the local hospital, became honorary citizen, Árpád Holczhei, retired teacher of János Selye High School, and Ľudovít Gallovich, former artistic director and choreographer of the local Dunaj folklore group, received the Pro Urbe award. This year, the In memoriam Pro Urbe award was also awarded to Gáspár Alapy, the first mayor of the united Komárom. It was said in the eulogy that Alapy was the only city leader who raised his voice against the Jewish laws and deportations. He was later arrested by the Arrowmen on charges of favoring the Jews, and then dragged away. He died in Dachau or on the way there. His grandson accepted the award.
