On April 25, the TERMOSTAR Kft. Mindszenti körút location opened its doors again. Those interested could see the biomass heating plant in the southern industrial area of Kecskemét in operation, from which heat energy produced from renewable energy sources reached the end of this year’s heating season to all consumers involved in the district heating service.

SCALE CHANGE IN THE USE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY

THE With 20+5 MW biomass boilers installed heating plant began its normal operation in December 2023. The investment marked a change of era in the history of the district heating service in Kecskemét, as well as in the energy management and greening of the city of Kecskemét. Thermal energy is produced at this site – instead of natural gas – from a renewable energy source that is available in industrial quantities around Kecskemét. This is further strengthens the supply security of district heat consumersat the same time, on an annual basis, approx 20,500 tons of CO2 savings results in

STABLE PRICES AND DISCOUNTS

The start-up of the biomass heating plant was an important element of the work that the city of Kecskemét and TERMOSTAR Kft. residential consumers can continue to use the district heating service at a reduced overhead price – unchanged for more than 10 years. In addition, thanks to the cost-reducing effect of biomass technology additional discounts also became available in this year’s heating season.

With the commissioning of the new heating plant, TERMOSTAR Kft. HUF 10,000 discount provides for residential consumers who pay their bills accurately. The district heating provider would also like to draw attention to the fact that accurate payment of invoices is just as essential to maintaining security of supply as the precise work of technical specialists. In Kecskemét, the proportion of consumers who belong to this category is over 90%, which is outstanding even in a national comparison. Therefore, TERMOSTAR Kft. would also like to express its thanks by saying that a HUF 10,000 discount for 2023-2024. instead of the annual heating settlement bill, it will be credited uniformly in the May district heating bill.

The bills of institutions (KKI) and other users were also favorably affected by the introduction of biomass technology. Prescribed in the ‘District Heat Decree’ effective from October 1, 2023 The heat fee of HUF 14,031/GJ+VAT was changed by the service provider – with the approval of the owner board – to the amount of HUF 7,500/GJ+VAT. In Kecskemét, the fees of institutional and other users could therefore be reduced to a greater extent than stipulated in the decree with the normal operation of the biomass heating plant.

COMPREHENSIVE DEVELOPMENT OF THE KECSKEMÉT DISTRICT HEAT NETWORK

The creation of the new heating plant was implemented as part of the comprehensive development of the Kecskemét district heating network in 2022-2023. THE Within the framework of the Széchenyi 2020 program, from European Union funds, with 100% support intensity, at a cost of HUF 10.6 billion within the framework of the implemented project, a total of approx The district heating network in Kecskemét was expanded with a 6 km long, modern, energy-saving backbone. The new cable sections connect the premises in Mindszenti krt. with the technologically renewed TERMOSTAR sites in Szultán utca and Akadémia krt. – forming a unified, energy-efficient system.

The project was the largest investment in the domestic district heating sector last year, and at the same time the most significant development in the history of TERMOSTAR Kft.

LOCAL ENERGY SOURCE AVAILABLE IN INDUSTRIAL QUANTITIES

Few people know that the majority of the forests in Bács-Kiskun county are planted forests. Due to the low rainfall and poor water retention capacity of the soil without planned forest management from our county In 20-30 years, the forests would almost disappear. Harvesting at the right time, followed by replanting, is a natural part of farming. During the process produced in industrial quantities by-product that cannot be used for other wood industry purposes (root system, trunk, thinner branches), which was not used in previous years, but which represents an adequate amount of energy source for the production of heat required for district heating.

THE from Kecskemét A biomass heating plant enables the use of several types of heating materials. Its components are produced as a by-product during planned forest management within a 60 km radius of Kecskemét from slaughterhouse waste (roots, trunks, thin branches) produced wood chips, the selectively collected, woody urban green biomass and the sunflower seed husk.

THE thanks to the utilization of slaughterhouse waste the afforestable area will increase by about 10% in the affected areas.

A SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION

TERMOSTAR Kft. believes in long-term solutions. During the selection and development of the Mindszenti körút site, the possibility of further development played an important role in order for TERMOSTAR Kft., as the largest energy producing company in Kecskemét, to play a decisive role in supplying the county seat with renewable energy.

STABLE JOB, SECURE LIVELIHOOD

The comprehensive development of the district heating network in Kecskemét also means an opportunity to expand the team.
