The Adony Dance Ensemble was founded in 1974 under the leadership of choreographer László Wünsch, who managed the professional work for another thirty-one years. During this time, the dance group preserved both the traditions of the German nationality of Adony and the dance culture of the Mezöföld region along the Danube. Over the years, through domestic and international connections, the group became regular performers at festivals, the dancers visited France, Greece and Germany, among others.
In honor of the dance ensemble celebrating its 50th anniversary, the municipality and the Ágnes Bálint Cultural Center and Library are preparing a series of jubilee programs. The head of the institution, Amanda Gróf-Kozmér, revealed that the community center’s team organizes programs that are about dance, but offer exciting recreation for all residents of the small town.
The series of programs begins on Friday, April 26 at 6 p.m. in the Lívia room of the cultural center, where an exhibition called “Start on a path…” opens, recalling and summarizing the last half century of the dance ensemble. The exhibition is open until May 24.
On Saturday, from 2 p.m., young and old are invited to the castle park: there will be a gastronomic courtyard, a craft fair, children can enjoy a children’s yard, a folk playground and crafts. The dancers’ gala show starts at 4 p.m., and from 7 p.m., the ballers take center stage.
The series of programs ends with mass starting at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. The organizers welcome all interested parties.
