The University of Debrecen and the municipality of Szolnok conclude a cooperation agreement – the general assembly decided after discussing the first proposal. In connection with the signing of the framework agreement, dr. Marianna habil Móré, the dean of the university, emphasized that the higher education institution on the Szolnok Campus develops those courses that are useful for the economy and the labor market of the county seat of Jászkunság. Currently, the most popular courses are those started in the health, social and technical fields.
The discussion about the report brought verbal clashes
The report on the performance of the city’s child welfare and child protection tasks took a “partisan” direction rather than a professional one. Therefore, the board’s decision was preceded by another long, “campaign-smelling” word battle. Sexless and unworthy of a general assembly, “characters” presenting old scandals appeared both for and against. Mayor Ferenc Szalay had to end the series of personal comments several times.
The most professional thoughts were mainly shared by school director/representative András Töreki (Fidesz-KDNP), who also expressed his thanks to the workers in the child welfare and protection system.

The proposal to amend the local paragraphs of the parking regulations was also accepted. From September, those with a residential parking permit can mark two parking spaces near their place of residence instead of one. László Lits, the managing director of Szolnok Városüzemeltetesi Kft. and the Szolnok NHSZ group, also reported that a new parking space with seventy-two spaces will be created in the area bounded by Várkonyi tér–Móra Ferenc út and Boldog Sándor István körút, which is also of considerable size. it also results in an increase in green space.
Students in Szolnok can use public transport for free
The board accepted the economic report of the city’s companies for last year, most of which closed the year 2023 with positive results. According to the decision of the general meeting, Szolnok supports eleven local foundations.
