Police officers and firefighters were rewarded, and their outstanding work in the county was recognized

The Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Assembly held its next meeting on Thursday in the ceremonial hall of the county hall. At the meeting, the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Public Safety Award was presented first. The prize can be awarded to those who have performed their duties in an exemplary manner for a long time in the service of the county’s public order and public safety.

Three people received the awards. Zoltán József Juhász police lieutenant colonel, who started his work as a patrolman, from 2018 manages the work of the service commanders and the Violation Preparatory Group at his current place of duty at the Kazincbarcika Police Station.

Furthermore István Attila Kovács an award was given to lieutenant colonel, who started his work as a patrolman after completing the deputy police officer training, and from 2021 he is the head of the crime department of the Vármegyei Police Headquarters.

He also received the Vármegye Public Safety Award Laszlo Márku lieutenant colonel, who has served in the professional staff of the police since 1993, has been working in the Criminal Division of the Miskolc Police Department since 1999, and currently heads the Burglary Sub-Department of the Criminal Division.

After the award ceremony, about the state of public safety in the county László Czinege the chief of police of the county gave a report, who supplemented the previously submitted document with a short oral summary. He said that the number of crimes increased minimally last year, but traffic accidents decreased thanks to the continuous screening of speeders and violators, and eight civilian vehicles are also involved in the work. The brigadier general also emphasized that cases related to drug users also provide plenty of work.

After the police report, the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Fire Safety Award was presented. The prize can be awarded to those persons who have outstandingly performed their duties for a long time in order to create the fire protection and fire safety of the county.

The recognition Attila Tóth it was awarded to a fire colonel who has been serving at the Miskolc Professional Fire Department since 1998 and is currently the deputy director of disaster management.

He could also receive an award Zsolt Csábrágiwho started his career in 1976 as a technical and safety employee, has been a member of the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Fire Association since 1998.

After the award ceremony, he held a briefing on the activities of the Disaster Management Directorate last year Zsolt János Macz director. The fire brigade colonel emphasized that 2023 was the year of technical rescues. The changes in the weather: floods, storms, supercells, sudden heavy rainfall gave the firefighters a lot of work. He added that it helped a lot that the leaders of the settlements reacted quickly to the events and began to defend themselves until the arrival of the disaster prevention officers. Thanks to the intervention, much less damage was caused.

As an additional item on the agenda, the meeting discussed the report of the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Civil Guard Association. The president of the Esély és Rézsvet Közhaznú Egyesület held a briefing on the situation of civil organizations operating in the county. But the topic was also the renewal of the operation of the County Council for the Elderly, as well as the experiences of the training of village guardians and land guardians.
