National Meeting of Nobility Homes – mansions can have a bright future

On Thursday, the 21st National Meeting of the Homes of Kisnemes was held at the Munkácsy Memorial Hall. The architectural heritage of Békés County, future plans and tourism opportunities were also presented at the conference.

In his speech, the politician drew attention to the importance of preserving the value of the city’s buildings, and then talked about major renovations in recent years. As he said, the conference frames all of this in order to create further developments.

Managing Director of Magyar Kastélyprogram Kft., Solt Virág said that the program was attended by speakers from both the professional and owner sides.

“Many manor-scale buildings have been renovated in Hungary in the past period, since a 6-7-room property can represent the living space of a family, but at the same time there are many buildings that are still waiting for an owner,” said the executive, and then drew attention to the historic for tax benefits.

He added that since the regime change, the country’s manorial stock has been continuously renewed, and then he mentioned some examples from Békés County, among which the Munkácsy Memorial House building, i.e. the Steiner-Omaszta manor, also belongs.

At the event, the mayor of Karcag, Tibor Szepesi gave a lecture on the Karcag Kincse Art and Conference Center, known as the “shaman’s drum”, as well as the tourism opportunities inherent in it. The city manager pointed out that thanks to the Munkácsy Foundation, the Munkácsy exhibition, which is the private collection of Imre Pákh, can also be seen in the new art center in Karcág.

– This building is a curiosity, since the pavilion of the 2015 World Exhibition in Milan was demolished, then it was first built in Hungary and later in Karcago. This is a very imposing and decisive building, which will determine Karcag’s tourism opportunities in the long term, said the mayor.
