The Beregi kör bicycle path became the Bicycle Path of the Year this year. The 50-kilometer long bicycle path running in the Upper Tisza region received 1,743 of the more than 11,000 votes, the State Secretariat for Active Hungary announced on Thursday.
According to the announcement, the cycling route presents the heritage of the Middle Ages and the remains of ancient volcanoes together with the surroundings of the upper reaches of the Tisza.
Dozens of nominations for this year’s competition were received from all over the country in the two weeks of the submission period. From these, the professional jury compiled the 11 finalists voted for by the public on April 19-24. between.
More than 11,000 votes were received for the finalists.
The Bicycle Route of the Year award can be given to a route that is an attractive destination for tourists, has good road quality, and is safe to travel on.

On the occasion of the Traffic Culture Day event series, the KTE Transport Safety Department, Aktív Hungary, the Active and Ecotourism Development Center, the Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt., the Hungarian Cycling Tourism Association and the Hungarian Cycling Club jointly announced the tender.
The ceremonial handing over of the title will take place on May 11, the Day of Transport Culture.
