Nursery Day – “With a sense of vocation in the hearts”

--

In Vác, they also celebrated the day of the crèches in a dignified manner, which is held every year on April 21. Nursery professionals from many parts of the country came to the cultural center in Vác on April 22, where more than 187 professionals from nursery schools and related professions were present at this professional event.

Past heritage, present achievements

Along the lines of the joys of the past and the actualities of the present, the workers in the sphere remembered that 172 years ago on this day, the first such institution specializing in the care of young children was established under the auspices of the Pesti Első Bölcődei Egylet. Since then, a lot of water has flowed down the Danube… Happily, many, many small children were born in our town even then and since then. Therefore, the demand for nurseries is increasing, so they have definitely earned their social rank and voice among the institutions. According to the latest statistics, the city of Vác already has a population of 33,695 people, so the demand for the establishment of nurseries is legitimate and at the same time necessary. That is why the recently handed over, modern Bauer Mihály utca crèche was also welcome, so there are now four places where children under the age of 3 are welcome in Vácott.

Kindergarten professionalism in the hearts

The Váci Human Services Center, together with early childhood educators and representatives of related professions, dedicated an entire professional day to recognizing and praising the self-sacrificing work of those working in the nursery profession and the professional consciousness that flourishes in their hearts, despite all the difficulties. “A person with a sense of vocation retires in vain, but his profession does not go into retirement and oblivion along with it” – he began his speech opening the event with this punchline Go Andrea Director of VHSZK. “Working in the nursery profession, like any other helping and caring sphere, definitely assumes dedication and a sense of vocation in the hearts. Regardless of the position, everyone’s work is equally important – whether it is an institution manager, a nursery nurse, a young child educator, a specialist consultant, a nursery food service or a specialist working in the field of administration” – Andrea Járja acknowledged and motivated the participants with these words.

Vác has a prestigious past in special education

The professionals recognized on the professional occasion, including the founder and professional director of the Budapest Early Development Center, Barbara Czeizel special pedagogue gave a lecture on the nursery admission of children with specific, different educational and care needs, and the need for early development. In his presentation, he recalled Vác’s justly famous special education past. We had to go all the way back in time to 1802, because the very first specialized institution providing special education care was established in Vác, Hungary, it was the Váci Royal Institute for the Deaf and Dumb, on the initiative of András Cházár. Then, from 1900, special education training also started in Vác at the Special Education Teacher Training School, as the legal predecessor of the Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Education.

Early development, inclusion – attitude formation

Barbara Czeizel, the dreamer and creator of the Early Development Center, has a strong connection to the city of Vác, as she began her career here as a special education teacher in a kindergarten in Vác at the beginning of her professional career. With Majd’s help, co-education of healthy and disabled children started here for the first time in Hungary. The Foundation “Együtt az ép görmekkel” established by him was also created in the spirit of this. The renowned specialist has not forgotten his professional roots in Vác since then, and he gladly accepted the invitation for the current Vác nursery school day.

On the professional day in something “other”, Barbara Czeizel began her presentation by clarifying the concepts affecting the co-education of children with different needs. We come across the concepts of SNI and early development almost on a daily basis, but we don’t necessarily know what they really mean. Clarifying concepts and bringing them to a common denominator can always help ensure that all stakeholders understand the same concept and speak a common language, so to speak. So, according to the literature, special educational needs (SNI) can affect locomotor, sensory, intellectual, or speech disabilities, which is why the affected children may need special treatment either in their families or in educational institutions. The earlier a diagnosis is revealed, the greater the chance that the affected child will not be the victim or target of exclusion, prejudice, and segregation thanks to early development. But they should be surrounded by acceptance, openness, and acceptance, and by integrating and fitting in, they can become full-fledged and useful members of society as adults.

“Our most feared treasure should be in the best place”

  • quoted the worried parents Silvia Faludi nursery school consultant. In his presentation, the specialist emphasized that the establishment of nurseries is one of the most effective social policy tools for encouraging childbearing, which affects the well-being of the entire family. After all, if mothers are able to meaningfully return to the open labor market, they do not have to experience motherhood as a step back in their careers, this has a good effect on the maintenance of the standard of living in addition to the family and relationship benefits. The specialist recalled that many parents tell them that they can safely pay off the loans taken out in connection with the recent constructions and that the families can maintain their usual standard of living thanks to the nurseries.

It doesn’t work without dad

Szilvia Faludi highlighted that, in addition to the role of mothers, the role of fathers, together as a family, is irreplaceable in the healthy psychosocial development of young children of nursery age. The specialist said that he also wrote his master’s thesis on the topic of the importance of young children and early paternal attachment at the Department of Education at Apor Vilmos Catholic College.

“We are all useful spokes in the wheel of the nursery school”

In conclusion, with this spectacular analogy, Szilvia Faludi described that successful kindergarten work is a real team effort, in which everyone has their own, indispensable role. Everyone is a useful spoke in the wheel of the nursery, from the professional head of the nursery, from the nursery teacher, to the administrative staff, from the food providers to the maintenance staff. In this way, they move together for the benefit of the families on the path of successful nursery operations, and of course not only on a day-to-day basis “red letter” on holidays, but also on every gray weekday, to the greatest satisfaction of the little ones.
