We almost fainted when we saw this year’s university tuition fees

The “cheaper” self-funded university courses also cost HUF 200-300,000, but they can charge up to four times more for other courses. Those who want to complete art or economics training in English and do not have a state scholarship will have to reach deep into their pockets, the Edulibe article reveals.

According to the Office of Education, 120,990 students applied for higher education this year, 67 percent of applicants for bachelor’s degrees, 20 percent for master’s degrees, 10 percent for undivided majors, and 3 percent for vocational training.

This is how much each training course costs

Veterinary training

For those who do not enroll in state-funded education, education costs HUF 1,450,000 per semester. By the way, the training lasts for 11 semesters, so Hungarian university students can complete the veterinary training for a total of HUF 15,950,000.

General medical training

This is the second most expensive course, students have to pay HUF 1,350,000 per semester, and the school consists of 12 semesters. Based on this, students pay HUF 16,200,000 by the end of school.

Dental training

The tuition here costs the same as HUF 1,350,000 for general medicine, but since the students “only” study for 10 semesters, the total cost of the training is the lowest here among the medical majors.

Economic courses

In some cases, the half-year cost of business courses in English almost reaches HUF one million. At Corvinus University in Budapest, students must pay HUF 990,000 per semester for the 7-semester English-language business and management course and the 8-semester international management course.

You have to pay a hair less at the IBS International School of Economics, where HUF 950,000 per semester is also charged for these courses.

Actor training

Those who do not get into the state-supported form of actor training at the University of Theater and Film Arts are unfortunately in a difficult situation, writes Eduline. This is because the institution will not start a self-funded theater training this year, just as in 2023. A paid form is available only at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences. On the Kaposvár campus of the university, the theater training lasts 10 semesters, and the tuition fee for the semester is HUF 950,000.

The theater director’s training at the University of Theater and Film Arts is of the same length, which also costs HUF 950,000 per semester.

According to the OH report, most of them applied for a Hungarian-language course, which means that they do not have to pay a language supplement, so they will be able to obtain their diploma for much cheaper tuition fees if they complete the course.
