They asked for a prison term for the drunken man.
The Debrecen Appeals General Prosecutor’s Office requested a prison sentence to be served for the man from Borsod, who was sentenced to two years suspended in the first instance, and who stabbed one of his sons in the stomach two years ago.
According to the announcement of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Appeal, four children were born from the marriage of the alcoholic and aggressive offender. The man stayed with his two adult sons in the shared apartment after the divorce. They regularly quarreled with one of them, and both often drank.
On the ominous day, both of them got drunk and then had a fight. In a rage, the father grabbed the knife from the coffee table and stabbed his son in the stomach with it. After that, the accused partner took the knife from the man, put the boy in a car and took him to the hospital.
The young man who was stabbed suffered a life-threatening injury, and it was only by lucky chance that he survived. The man received a two-year suspended sentence, but the prosecution appealed for a heavier sentence.
According to the General Prosecutor’s Office of Debrecen, it can be established from the court documents that the head of the family has been living an alcoholic lifestyle for at least a decade, and when he is drunk, he regularly becomes aggressive, primarily towards his family members. According to their point of view, the punishment goals against the offender can only be achieved by serving a term of imprisonment.
