Several investments have been put in jeopardy due to the situation surrounding one of the Vas County construction industry groups. Officially, work is still going on at the affected locations, but in reality it is more apparent that construction has practically stopped.

The case affected the new nursery school in Gencsapáti.

– I can’t find words, I’m shocked, I’m very affected by the events – said Ferenc Bodorkós, the mayor of the settlement, sadly. – Our contract is still valid, we act in accordance with the provisions of the agreement. However, we see that the facility will not open this year, even though the deadline for completion was May 21. The parents of the 24 children who had previously indicated their intention to enroll in the institution had been waiting for this moment. They were looking for a job, he signed contracts, confident that the children would be able to attend his nursery school.

The mayor highlighted: he has already managed to achieve so much that the parents can take 20 children to his nursery school in Szombathely. The additional costs are covered by the municipality of Gencsápát.

The degree of completion of the facility is 75 percent, electrical installation work and mechanical engineering are missing. Gyöngyszem Kindergarten would have been built with HUF 344 million. In addition to the EU funds, the municipality of the settlement also undertook a significant financial contribution.

The mayor is already looking ahead. In order for work to continue with another contractor, a forensic expert must first assess the building. A new public procurement must be issued, and finally a contract will be signed. It all takes time: it can take long weeks or months.

The construction of the Szombathely Diocese’s nursery in Szombathely also became doubtful. We have sent our questions on this matter, we will get back to you as soon as we receive an answer.

In Csepregen, the cultural center was renovated. Like that we wrote it, Mayor Zoltán Horváth informed the council about the developments in a closed session. The city manager was authorized to find a new contractor as necessary and to do everything in order to continue the work.

Our newspaper contacted the manager of the company concerned by phone several times, but he did not respond to our call.
