Kometa Kaposvári KK, which fought hard to stay in, hosted the direct rival Duna Aszfalt-DTKH Kecskemét in the fourth round of the play-out – bb1.hu reports that the match started with Koprivica’s double, but KTE reversed. The home team took back the lead with a triple by Halmai, but Bogues also took a great shot from outside the corner (8-9). He also recovered a mid-range shot, and Dramicsanin’s penalties increased the difference. Seven Kaposvár points came without KTE answering, but there was still no shortage of turnovers: with two actions by Karahodzsics, the guests had the advantage in no time (15-17). Szőke tripled in the ring, and Kaposvár took the lead again, but Kecskemét scored four points in the half minute remaining in the quarter, so the guests had the advantage (18-19).
KKK made a quick turnaround, coming out of the second quarter with great momentum: Eaddy scored three, Szőke scored a triple, Paár also scored twice from close range, and a little later he also let loose a long shot, also with success – leaving the visitors standing with six points in seven minutes. 21-point home team (39-25). Halmai responded to Wittmann’s triple from the outside, and Eaddy zeroed in on Sinik’s long shot – the half-time lead brought an even fight, but the last word belonged to Filipovity, who ended this stage with a triple (50-34).
The first half of the third quarter also brought an even game, practically the baskets fell alternately, so the difference did not change. There were several bad throws from both sides, and the penalty kicks didn’t really work either. Eaddy threw a three-pointer, Bogues copied it, and then Eaddy scored again from the outside – slowly but surely, the home advantage grew, so after 27 minutes of play the difference was closer to twenty (65-46). Eaddy caught the thread, again a three-pointer ended up in the ring, and Szőke joined him again, which made the difference twenty points – Jackson added two more (70-48). There were 22 between them until the end of the quarter (74-52).
KTE dictated a greater pace at the beginning of the last quarter, but the home advantage seemed almost unattainable. By the middle of the half, the Bogues already managed 13 points, compared to Kaposvár’s five units (79-65). Another five points came with several fouled throws, without exception a penalty kick from Kecskemét found its way into the ring, so the guests came within ten with two and a half minutes before the end (79-70). Action didn’t go well for Kecskemét either, but Wittmann carved out a point from their deficit after a technicality, and then Bogues scored both of his penalties (79-73). Halmai sold only one of his shots from the line, breaking a six-minute home scoring silence. However, KTE could not get any closer, so the “freeze” in the fourth quarter was enough for Kaposvár: they won the elimination rally 83-76.
