This year, 59 works were nominated for the jubilee, 20th Vas Film Festival, which was organized last August in Vpe. In the competition program, 29 films were selected, mostly documentaries, which were evaluated by a professional jury based on various criteria. Prizes were awarded in the following categories.
During a round table discussion, the past two decades of the Vasi independent film festival were recalled on the opening day on Friday. In the discourse led by fszervez Krisztián Meskó, it was said: mustra is a springboard for young filmmakers. The creators who appeared in the first years have now become important players in the Hungarian film world.
The desire to enter has been undiminished since the beginning, this year 59 works were submitted for the call – predominantly documentaries, this time there were fewer fictions, which used to be the most popular category. 29 jerseys were selected for the competition program.
Krisztián Meskó, the co-ordinator of Vas-Film, said that he was particularly satisfied with the work of the jury, that they were able to work well together, as they themselves noted. The foundation of the fdíj was a novelty, three fdíjs were awarded. He feels that they were also in a good place with all the awards that were given to the creators.
Four professional jurors evaluated the films in terms of theme selection, visuality, composition, perspective, mood and editing. The creators also received opinions, criticism, advice, and praise. The award for the best film went to Dominik Poscher: Buborék, but the best director and cinematographer were also awarded. Documentary, animated, nature and portrait films, as well as young talents, were also evaluated separately.
