Gabriella Adonyi, the school’s English teacher, highlighted in her welcome that the playwright and poet, who is not only an outstanding figure of English language drama, but also of world literature, and who also made a name for himself as an actor in his country. The popularity of the magician of playwriting is still unbroken, his oeuvre is available in all major living languages; theaters have been playing his plays for four hundred years, whose book and film adaptations have conquered and are still conquering the world today, his more important works are part of basic education, some of his lines have become catchphrases, the teacher said.

Gabriella Adonyi said that the goal of the competition was to develop creativity and apply the acquired knowledge in practice. The competing teams had to prove not only their ingenuity and acting, but also their communicative skills in English.

The entries received from all over the country were evaluated by a jury, whose members were Leslie Hayler, the second secretary of the British Embassy, ​​Dr. Sándor Fazekas, literary historian, translator, drama history teacher, from MATE’s Kaposvári Campus, Attila Galambos, the literary director of the József Katona National Theater in Kecskemét, Éva Páli, the Oxford University Press representative and Péter Pál Fekete cameraman.

At the results announcement, Leslie Haylert gave a greeting, and then Sándor Fazekas briefly evaluated the applications.

Among the 7th graders, the Peers team from the Sándor Pallavicini Primary School in Sándorfalva took 3rd place. The Shakem team from the Lajos Nagy High School and College of the Cistercian Order in Pécs won 2nd place, and the Shakespeare in Action team from István Fekete Fekete Sports School Primary School in Lajosmiz took first place.
