His moral abilities are at a low level, but he does not have a pathological state of mind, and he was not limited in his reasoning abilities when he committed the act. The defendant’s relationship behavior is of a low level, he used his partner and treated him as an object – among other things, Dr. Lajos Bárdos and dr. About Mária Dobra OB, who, according to the accusation, strangled her pregnant partner with a cord last May. The forensic medical experts were heard on Wednesday by dr. He strangled her with a cord
According to the indictment of the county prosecutor’s office, OB and JE lived together since 2021, but because of the man’s jealousy, they often quarreled, and OB repeatedly abused the woman, who never filed a complaint. Last May, after an argument, JE moved in with an acquaintance. The accused found out where his partner was and went there on the night of May 27. When the two women were talking outside, he burst into the yard, pulled his partner by the hair into the street, holding a knife in the other hand. He dragged her to a wooded area, hit her, cut her, and then strangled her with a cord that fastened her pants. The woman died on the spot, and the man hid with his relatives until the police caught him. JE was twenty weeks pregnant, and her partner knew about it.
At the preparatory meeting in January, the man stated that he did not hurt the woman. He went to the house where his partner lived temporarily because he wanted to talk to him about a video recording. They went home, he took medicine, and then they left for the station – according to his claim, the woman wanted to travel to the capital. He doesn’t remember what happened next. He put it this way: “by the time I got clean, it was already too late.” He said he tried to revive the woman and added that he was sorry for what had happened.
Consciousness narrowing effect
The judge asked the experts what could be the reason why OB told in detail what he did the day after the incident, but since then he has consistently claimed that he does not remember what happened. “Memory is subjective,” said dr. Lajos Bárdos, and added: temper and emotion have a narrowing effect. – It may happen that someone cannot recall their memories, this can also be a kind of defense mechanism. – Pathological temper does not exist – declared the experts: as they said, one of the exclusionary reasons for this is alcohol or drug consumption, which in this case is clear. The assigned defender, Dr. Zoltán Dobos asked him about the sincerity of his regret. – Regret is a subjective factor, acceptability is questionable in this case – Lajos Bárdos put it this way: everyone says what they want afterwards.
He wants to see the recording
The expert opinion of the forensic psychologist, Edit Ficsóriné Zentai, was given by dr. Nóra Fintor read it. According to E, OB appears indifferent, but is characterized by overheating. He reacts aggressively to the harm done to him, but he is aware of the consequences of his actions and their moral weight.
At the defendant’s request, Dr. Nóra Fintor summarized the expert opinions once more, and the man said that he had not committed the things that the judge had read out and asked to show him the recording that was made during his first interrogation.
