The Prime Minister drafted an indictment against his number one enemy, the EU, just as the 20th anniversary of the accession is approaching. But the bleak picture painted arbitrarily omits any support the sector has received from Brussels. On the other hand, as HVG wrote, the grain storage used as the location of the campaign opening happened to be built with 600,000 euros of EU money.

Hungarian agriculture benefited greatly from the common agricultural policy. The conservative French newspaper quotes György Raskó, who says that thanks to the EU subsidies, the sector is experiencing a golden age, although the producers – because of Ukrainian exports – do not share this opinion.

Meanwhile, the government was in a difficult position due to the pedophile scandal. According to surveys, a third of eligible voters line up behind Fidesz, which many other European parties could envy, but it still threatens that the ruling party may lose seats in Strasbourg.

The relationship with the Polish PiS is improving, although this is not yet clear due to the close Hungarian-Russian relationship, and this also applies to the party of the Czech Prime Minister in the ranks of the European Conservatives and Reformers (ECR) faction. In any case, in the middle of the month, Morawiecki took part in a joint podium debate in Brussels with Orbán and the representative of Le Pen’s RN. The French party is a member of the extreme ID faction. Both the Hungarian politician and Le Pen consider it important to represent the interests of the countryside and agriculture, and this can act as a catalyst.
