The first Debrecen Art Week will arrive between May 9 and 12: with the initiative and support of the local government, Debrecen’s fine art exhibition spaces, associations, art schools and private individuals will talk about contemporary fine art for four days in the exhibition and alternative spaces of the city center.

The 21 participating and supporting organizations, as well as the creators, organize shows and exhibitions at 17 locations in the city center during the festival. At the same time and in accordance with the army review of the 33rd Debrecen Spring Exhibition, May 9-12. with exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, studio visits, local fine and photographic art, as well as visual art training in Debrecen are celebrated.

In the Új Városháza Gallery, those interested will be able to view the centenary commemorative exhibition of the graphic artist Mihály Móré. The characteristic figure of Debrecen, several of whose works were inspired by Hortobágy, would be one hundred years old this year.

In the downtown exhibition hall of the German Cultural Forum in Debrecen, the exhibition of the visual artist Konrád Kaszás will be organized under the title Széthasadó line beam, and in the Ferenc Medgyessy memorial museum, an unusual procession will take place. The “rolling” method is a common practice in art education, during which the students present their works made during a semester/year in front of each other, spread out on the floor, the organizers explained.

Within the framework of the MODEM Project Space, the exhibition of the visual artist József Kristóf Balogh will be organized: the visual artist born in Debrecen, currently living and working in Budapest, will have his first institutional solo exhibition, which will be shown in the newly launched project space of MODEM.

In the exhibition space at Piac utca 69, titled From Aladár Almásy to Rudolf Velényi, the focus is on the artists of Debrecen: the collector couple Kiss-Nagy, who live in the city, have been collecting works of art dating from 1949 to the present day for almost thirty years, but their collection also includes exhibition catalogues, art magazines and posters . At their Art Week exhibition, they select from the works of artists from Debrecen and those connected to the city. The visual artist István Burai is also commemorated with the presentation of his works, on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of his death.

What is the day in the Partium House? the exhibition of Melitta Csorján, a painter born in Székelyhíd, will be organized under the title, and in the Új Galéria on Széchenyi Street, 31 exhibitors will present themselves at the collage exhibition of the Debrecen Art Association, the organizers said, adding: at the 33rd Debrecen Spring Exhibition in the Bényi Gallery, the art, photography and the works of local or native artists practicing applied arts professionally can be seen.

In the Synagogue Gallery in Pásti Street, a selection of the works of graphic artists from Debrecen is presented under the title Burning Sacrifice.
