A man working in a Budapest children’s home was arrested, who, according to well-founded suspicions, abused a minor, whose supervision he was entrusted with, and forced an acquaintance who was also a minor to perform a sexual act, according to the website of the Prosecutor’s Office. According to 24.hu, the man is a XVI. he was a supervisor in a district institution and bullied a 14-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl.
The investigation began in 2023, after last spring it was suspected that the man was abusing his position of power and forcing a minor living in the home to commit a sexual act. 24.hu knows that this was the case that Péter Magyar wrote about in a Facebook post three weeks ago. Magyar reported that according to a report published in December 2023 by the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights, a 15-year-old girl resident of the home wanted to escape from the institution last April, and one of the child supervisors would have helped her in this, in exchange for the girl establishing sexual relations with him. The ombudsman’s investigation established that the management of the home learned about the incident afterwards, the manager of the home interviewed the girl, who admitted that the child supervisor had sexual contact with her. The man has since been kicked out of the home.
In addition, the man is also suspected of having committed sexual acts several times with another acquaintance, who does not live in the home, but is also a minor. He gained her trust, offered her alcohol and drugs, and when the alcohol and drugs took their toll, he took advantage of her dazed acquaintance. He even punched the teenager once when he refused him.
The capital police took the man into custody and suspected him of sexual abuse, sexual violence against a minor and other crimes. The Budapest IV. and XV. The District Prosecutor’s Office made a motion to arrest the man, the investigating judge – sharing the prosecutor’s position – ordered the arrest for 1 month. The order is not yet final.
