Tata refis brought the Hungarian rock opera to the stage + photos

Teacher Katalin Nedermann, head of the theater group at Tata Református Gimnázium, certainly likes challenges. Last year, Shakespeare’s most famous play, the Verona lovers presented their story, and this year they chose an even bigger challenge: they staged perhaps the most important event in Hungarian history. The chilling songs of the István Király rock opera filled the cultural center in Tata. Refis students appeared in front of the audience on two occasions.

Kemma.hu was also invited to the performance, and the fantastic photos and videos of the play speak for themselves. After the crowning of István, the audience sang the National Anthem together with the children, and then the presentation was rewarded with a standing ovation.

The refis did a great job again

When asked by Kemma.hu, Katalin Nedermann revealed after the performance that she had wanted to stage the play for a long time. In consultation with his colleagues, they finally decided in August to take the plunge this year. This time, singing teacher Orsolya Györkéné Gulyás played a key role in the selection of the actors. The choreography of the dancers was once again praised by the work of Éva Hullámné Csapó, while the scenery and costumes were created based on the designs of art teacher Szilvia Aladjits. But, of course, the opinions of the students in the play were also sought in everything.

– We started rehearsals in September once a week, on Friday afternoon. Of course, as the date of the performance approached, the rehearsals became more frequent. And in the last week, we practiced late into the evening – explained the teacher, who is currently at home at GYED and only returned to school for the play. Thus, her baby was also present throughout the rehearsals, earning her the right to appear in the play as the youngest actor, barely 9 months old. But the children of other female teachers also appeared among the dancers. The biggest surprise, however, was the boy who played István. The ninth grader Gergő played his role impeccably even for his young age. Standing alone on stage and singing, he could fill the entire stage with life.

This year's play by Tata high school students also deserved a standing ovation. This time, the refis performed the Hungarian rock opera István a Király. Not anyway.
