Based on data from the European Commission for the 14th week, the processing sales price of 65 percent whole chicken was 2.6685 euros per kilogram on average, which is 2.5 percent lower than the same period last year.

At the same time, looking at the same period, the price in Hungary is 2.4149 euros per kilogram, which represents a half-percent increase compared to a year ago, reports Agroinform.

Accordingly, a kilo of chicken breast fillet currently costs HUF 1,715, while bone-in chicken breast costs HUF 1,164, bone-in chicken leg costs HUF 865, and chicken liver with heart costs HUF 849.

The price of bone-in chicken breast fell the most, by 18.9 percent, while the price of bone-in chicken thigh fell the least, by 8.2 percent.

The price of eggs also fell spectacularly: based on the data of AKI PÁIR, the packing point price of table M+L eggs from cage farming was HUF 55.13 per piece, which is 16.8 percent lower than at the same time last year. The packing point price of M box eggs was 15.9 percent, that of L box eggs was 14.9 percent, the packing point price of M tray eggs was 20.7 percent cheaper, and that of L tray eggs was 17.6 percent cheaper .

You can’t help but notice the price change in the wholesale markets as well: here the price of eggs per piece ranges from HUF 62 to HUF 78, while in the consumer markets they range from HUF 70 to HUF 90. In the EU, the price of eggs at the packing point was 11 percent below the value of the same period of the previous year.
